Here's how to get to Camp Staunton Meadows!


From Washington , DC via Richmond , Virginia

From I-95 South, take exit 79 to Powhite Parkway /195 South; Stay in marked lane of exit to make an immediate left up the ramp, towards Powhite Parkway/Route 60/360 West. Pass through a 50¢ toll then a 75¢ toll then take Route 288 South to Route 360 (exit Amelia and 360 West). Continue for approximately 80 miles on Route 360 West, crossing the Staunton River . Turn right (north) on Route 716 for one mile. Turn right onto 92 then left on 746 onto West Church , towards Mt. Laurel (746 soon becomes Mt. Laurel Road .) Go about 8 miles, passing the sign for Staunton River Battlefield. The camp entrance is on the right at the large rock. If you cross the Staunton River , you have gone one mile too far.

From South Boston

Take Route 360 east for a little over 10 miles. Turn left at top of the hill (after crossing Difficult Creek) onto Roger's Chapel Road/Route 607 and continue until it ends. Turn left at “T” stop onto Mt. Laurel Road/Route 746. After about 4 miles, you will find the camp entrance on your right at the large rock. If you cross the Staunton River , you have gone one mile too far.

 

From Raleigh-Durham

Follow Highway 501 North through Roxboro to South Boston . Turn right (east) onto Route 58/360 at the light with “Sheetz” and “Hardee's.” Continue east about one-half mile to the stop light and turn left (north) on Route 360. From this point follow directions above from South Boston .

 

From Virginia Beach

Follow Route 58 West to South Hill where you will pick up Route 47 to Chase City . From Chase City , take Route 92 to Route 360. Turn left onto Route 360 West for a couple of miles then turn right onto Route 716 for one mile. Bear right onto 92 then left onto West Church (Route 746 which soon becomes Mt. Laurel Road ). Go about 8 miles, passing the sign for Staunton River Battlefield, and find the camp entrance on your right at the large rock. If you cross the Staunton River , you have gone one mile too far.

 

From Lynchburg

Follow Route 501 South to Brookneal, bear left (east) onto Route 40. Go approximately 12 miles through the town of Phenix . Two miles after Phenix, turn right (South) onto Scuffletown Road , Route 746 (which turns into Mt. Laurel Road ) for about 14 miles. Once you cross the Staunton River , camp is one mile on your left at the large rock.

 

From Roanoke

Take Route 220 South to Rocky Mount . Turn right onto Route 40 east towards Gretna and continue for approximately 67 miles then make a slight right onto Scuffletown Road , Route 746. Follow Route 746 (which eventually turns into Mt. Laurel Road ) for 12 miles and cross the Staunton River . Camp is one mile past the bridge on your left at the large rock.
